Virtual Law Office Technology and Maryland Family Law Firm, LLC.:
As of September 22, 2009, Maryland Family Law Firm, LLC. began to offer clients a secure, fully online site, at which they can communicate with us, upload and download files, and operate in a fully secure, online environment. We also offer telephone initial office conferences and payment for these services through Pay Pal.
If you are interested in finding out whether or not you want our full service representation, click on this link to register in the VLO. Click on the navigation button on the lower left of the page titled, "VLO."
Once the page loads, click on the link that says, "Click here to register."
The first thing you will see is a login screen.
Create a username and password and be sure to keep them in a place where you can find them again when you want to login the next time. The password must contain both letters and numbers. Next you will see a clickwrap agreement. You will be asked to agree to its terms. Please read it through carefully and click "I agree".
You will then be in the VLO. You should do two things once you are in the VLO.
First, register all of your ID information (name, address, telephone numbers, etc.). This will help us create your personal homepage. This information is kept in the secure database and allows us to conduct a conflict check. If the opposing party in your case tries to communicate with us for the purpose of obtaining our services, we will know immediately and advise them that we cannot communicate with them. Even if you do not have a conference with, or retain us, we try to avoid any contact with the opposing party. If the other party tried to register, the first thing I would do is do a conflicts check. Your name would come up and we would send the opposing party a message declining to take their case or otherwise communicate with them. Then, their case would be deleted from the VLO.
This next part is very important! Be SURE to fill in, and send, a brief, one or two sentence summary of what your case is about in the "Ask A Question", field.
Once you have filled in the information, be sure you click the "Send" button to send the question. This sends us an email telling us that you have registered. When we get that email, we will go into the VLO and create your personal homepage. Also, be sure you click on the option that allows me to send you an email update at the bottom of the "Ask A Question" screen.
When we have created your personal homepage you will get several emails notifying you of things we have done to set up your personal homepage. Simply click on the link inside the email and you will be taken to the login screen, where you can log in. Whatever you do, please do not keep re-registering. Once you've sent the "Ask a Question" form to us, you should be able to get into your original homepage every time you log in. When we create your personal homepage, we willl attach an online form with an explanatory letter and questions for you to answer. You will get an email telling you it has been attached to your homepage. When you get that email, you will see a yellow box at the top left of your screen. It tells you that you have a form to fill in. Please complete it and hit the "send" button to notify us that you have completed it. This questionnaire contains all the information you will need to decide if you want to schedule an initial office conference. We will also send you an invoice for the cost of the initial office conference. Once we have scheduled an appointment, you can pay for the initial office conference via Pay Pal on your personal homepage.
Neither these instructions, your registration on the VLO, or our initial office conference, constitute an attorney-client relationship. They are only designed to allow us to have a single conference. At that conference, we will decide whether or not to accept you as a client. We will tell you what your retainer fee will be at that time, and will ask you to sign a written retainer agreement that will be given to you at a later engagement conference, should we decide to take your case.
Please read the Client Manual on the VLO carefully as soon as possible after you have registered. It will give you all the information you need to find your way around your personal, secure webpage.
If you are interested in our services for full-service representation, please do not send us any further communications or attachments by regular electronic mail. We want to protect your privacy and confidentiality as well as we possibly can and our VLO is the best place to do so.
